Vinyl Monday: Star Wars - A New Hope

I'm a big believer that it is the small positive things we do in our day that have the biggest impact on our own well being.  From here through the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, I've decided to just blog about the small things I'm doing to escape from the anxiety producing headlines in our news. Today, after my day of teleworking, I'm finishing up what I started over the weekend. I'm listening to the second half my Star Wars LP, Sides 3 and 4.

Databarracks says: Farewell Windows 7!

Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery provider Databarracks has bid farewell to Windows 7 with a Viking funeral. Databarracks’ managing director Peter Groucutt commented:

“On the 14th of January, support for Windows 7 ends and when a well-loved operating system reaches end of life, we like to mark the occasion. Five years ago, when Windows Server 2003 was retired we launched it into space. For Windows 7, we opted for a Viking funeral.

A recent survey by SurveyMonkey pointed to a long-noticeable jump in the popularity of mobile applications in comparison with familiar websites. Stunning 962.5% - this is the result of the transformation of 8 billion invested in the industry into 77 billion. With a high probability, by the end of 2020, this figure will exceed 100+ billion. Already, iTunes and the Google Play Store are offering us to install 4.3 million applications, and this is not the limit - the number of mobile clients continues to grow exponentially.

The Tesla Model 3 is just a Car which is Good News for EV Industry

A few days ago, there was a MarketWatch article published that summarized the difficulties Tesla's competitors are having going electric. The article goes through a litany of companies in electric vehicle manufacturing having difficulty catching up to Tesla. Some of the companies include Volkswagen, Jaguar, Dyson (yes that Dyson), GM, Porche, Toyota, Kia, China's Nio, etc. The article even includes mention of Harley-Davidson briefly halting production of its LiveWire electric motorcycle due to charging issues via low-voltage home outlets.

Whether intentional or not, Home Depot briefly listed a never before seen "21 inch Select Cut Lawn Mower with Touch Drive Technology" .  While we're unaware of public announcement from EGO POWER+, we came across a couple interesting pages online via Home Depot Pro that may very well be an upcoming new EGO Power+ mower about to hit the market. Details on this new mower are subject to change but below is what we can speculate from the information we know so far.

Fraud alert: Popular video app Snaptube needs careful watching

London, October 17th, 2019 – Snaptube, a popular Android smartphone video app which claims some 40 million users, has been caught making millions of suspicious transactions without the knowledge of its users. The Snaptube app features the same piece of developer software code, Mango SDK, that was at the center of the Vidmate expose earlier this year - when another popular video app from a Chinese developer was found to be conducting mass scale advertising and premium services’ subscription fraud. Snaptube also displays a common traffic pattern and similar URLs and domains as those reported with Vidmate.
